Package Overview

Day 1

Haridwar – Kund (1350m) (Drive / 200 km / 6 – 7 hrs)

Your Chopta snow trekking trip starts with an early morning drive from Haridwar to Kund. This journey takes around 6–7 hours, and before you arrive at HELC’s Verdant Valley lodge at Kund, you’d leave behind some famous town of Uttarakhand, including Devprayag and Rudraprayag. For most part of your journey, you’d be driving along the Ganga river. You reach Verdant Valley lodge by early evening. Enjoy a hot, tasty dinner at the lodge before you go to bed.
Day 2

Kund – Kakragad (Stream) – Makkumat – Chalkot Camp (Drive / 20 mins) (Trek / 4 – 5 hrs)

After breakfast at around 8:00 am, you drive to Kakragad, a picturesque spot known for some natural pools. This place is also an ideal place for the passionate bird lovers. From Kakragad, we begin the trek to Makkumat—the winter seat of Tungnath shrine. This trek will pass through dense forests, offering trekkers lots of scenic views to enjoy in the vicinity of nature. From Makkumat, we’ll again board vehicles for Chalkot, where overnight stay will be in tents.
Day 3

Chalkot – Sari – Deoriatal – Sari – Chalkot (Drive / 1 hr) (Trek / 3 – 4 hrs)

The third day of the trip starts with a drive to Sari village. After you reach this village, you begin the trek to mesmerizing Deoriatal Lake—a pristine, mystical lake described in the Hindu mythology as the spot where Yaksha asked Pandavas different questions during Mahabharata era. Spend some time here; soak in the beauty of the pristine lake and watch the reflection of Chaukhamba peak in its still waters before trekking back to Sari using the same route. Now drive back to Chalkot for overnight stay in tents.
Day 4

Chalkot – Chopta – Tungnath (3680m) – Chandrashila Peak (4000m) – Chalkot/ Kund (Trek / 4–5 hrs) (Drive / 1–1.5 hrs)

This is going to be the most interesting day of your trip. Post breakfast, you start trekking towards Chopta—a rewarding journey filled with pure adventure. On this trek, you get a chance to experience some breathtaking views of the Himalayan range. This trek takes about 2–3 hours to complete. After you reach Chopta, you can have some light refreshment to reenergize yourself. The next trek from Chopta to Tungnath is a bit demanding (but short). It takes about 2–3 hours to complete. Tungnath is one of the five kedars for Hindus and also the highest Shiva temple in the world. During this entire trek, you’ll find only thick covers of snow all around. After spending some time in the temple, enjoy the magnificent views of the Bandarpoonch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar peaks from this spot. Now you’ll trek further 1 km up to reach the summit of Chandrashilla peak, the highest point (4000m) of your trip. From the summit, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the whole Himalayan range and the surrounding valleys. Now you trek back to Chopta using the same route, and drive down to Kund/ Chalkot for overnight stay. Enjoy a tasty dinner at the camp.
Day 5

Chalkot /Kund – Haridwar

After breakfast, you drive back to Haridwar. Your trip ends at Haridwar.
