Here’s giving you a plethora of sightseeing options that Auli has to offer. – Situated at a height of 3049m, Auli offers ample number of sightseeing options for everyone . Take a drive to Malari village and Niti passs witness undulating meadows and awe-inspiring views. Hop on to a horse and take a ride through lush green Auli meadow, traversing through dense forest to reach Gurson top where exquisite views await you. Cable car drive is another sightseeing option where you get bird eye views of Auli. Enthral yourself whilst taking a chair lift to Gandola and experience the thrill. To gain more insights about the place let’s explore the following:
Option 1: Visit to meadows at Auli
- Altitude: : 2800 mt/9186 ft
- Drive: Lodge – Joshimath (Drive / 30 min) – Auli (Ride / 25 min) — Lodge (Drive / 20 min)
Activity Highlights and Location: The meadows at Tower number 10 at Auli can be reached via cable car, from Joshimath. From the lodge a 30 minute drive to Joshimath will take us to the cable car station. After a 25 minute ride we reach Tower 10. The ride enables one to witness the Joshimath Township & snow covered meadows in winters. On deboarding one would be driven by the beauteous forms of nature. The snow-touched Himalayan peaks and the dense oak forest will be enough for the starved eyes!
Option 2: Auli – Tower Number 8 (Chair Lift ride)
- Drive: Lodge – Auli (Drive / 15 -20 mins) – Chair lift station (Trek / 100 mts) – Tower 8 (Ride / 5 mins) – Lodge (Drive / 20 mins)
Activity Highlights and Location: For all adventure lovers, this is an exciting option where in you are harnessed to a chair with four people and it moves at an elevation with the view of the magnificent Himalayas in front and lush green oak forest below. Ride upto Tower Number 8, Ski slope, offering grand views of the soaring Himalayan peaks. Feel the thrill when the air brushes through you as take this ride. Immerse yourself in Himalayan panorama as you walk back or take the chair lift to return.
- Altitude: 1874 mt/ 6150 ft
- Drive: Lodge – Joshimath – Lodge (3 Hours/ 5 km)
Activity Highlights and Locations: Abode of one of the four cardinal Pithas, established by Adi Guru Shankracharya. This buzzing town enveloped by the great Himalayan view, is popular for ancient temples like Shankracharya Temple, Narsingh Temple and several others dedicated to the Gods of Indian mythology. The town is rich in culture and a perfect example of Pahari(mountain) way of life, with abundant settlements. Home to the oldest tree of India, the 1200 years old, Kalpvriksha, is a sight must visit.
Option 4: Visit to Tapovan & Lata Village
- Altitude: 2317/7599 ft
- Drive: Lodge – Tapovan – Lata Village – Lodge (1.7 Hours/30 kms)
Activity Highlights and Location: From the lodge we take a 1 hour drive to Tapovan, known for its natural hot springs. It is believed that the hot spring, bubbling out sulphur water is a cure for all skin diseases. Before we move ahead, one might choose to collect some pure mulatni mitti (Fullers earth). In a 9 km drive ahead is the Lata village. Living with its glorious history of the Chipku movement, the village is a cultural & architectural hub for the visitors.
Option 5: Visit to Govindghat & Pandukeshwar temple
- Altitude: 1928 mt/6325 ft
- Drive: Lodge – Govindghat – Pandukeshwar – Lodge (1.5 Hours/ 30 KM)
Activity Highlights and Location: Located at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Lakshman Ganga River, is Govindghat. Taking a 1 hour drive from the Lodge, one can visit the Gurudwara, which is a landmark. Further heading to Pandukeshwar, a sacred town 2kms ahead, one is introduced to the legend associated with the place.
The myths foretell King Pandu, father of the Pandavas in the Mahabharath epic, worshipped Lord Shiva here. This visit is indeed insightful for those who seek the myths and religion.
Option 6: Badrinath & Mana Village
- Altitude: 10,275 ft
- Drive: Lodge – Joshimath – Badrinath (Drive/ 2 hrs) – Mana Village (Drive/ 15 mins) – Lodge (Drive/ 3 hrs)
Activity Highlights and Location: The revered temple of Badrinath is nestled between Nar & Narain mountains. Situated between the banks of river Alaknanda , this temple is famous for Hindu devotees paying homage to lord Vishnu. After the temple visit, we drive 3 Kms ahead to Mana, the last village on the borders of India. This celebrated Bhutia village is culturally rich and is also known for the Ganesh – Vyas Cave.
Option 7: Malari & Niti Pass
Altitude: 3600 mts
Drive: Lodge – Malari (Drive / 3-4 hrs) – Niti Pass ( Drive / 45mins – 1 hrs) – Lodge (Drive/ 3 -4 hrs
Activity Highlights and Location :It is a beautiful drive from the lodge to Malari , which takes you through Tapovan hot springs and further passing through Reini , Lata, and Tolma village. Witness snow-capped peaks, Himalayan terrain and azure sky which are sure to captivate your senses. This steep uphill drive to Niti Pass offers views of majestic Himalayan peaks. Soak in the beauty of Niti pass known for the famous Nanda Devi and the cave temple.

Option 8: Horse Riding at Auli – Gurson Meadows
Trail: Logde – Parsari – Auli – Gurson – Lodge
Activity Highlights and Location: Enthral yourself in a horse riding activity which offers surreal views along the trail taken. A little ahead of the starting point, is a walk of 5 -10 minutes, from where you can hire a horse. It is a steep climb with awe-inspiring views. You ride through lush green meadows with captivating Himalayan peaks unfolding in front of you. Nanda Devi, Drona Giri, Hathi Gudi, etc. are some of the prominent peaks you will witness while taking the ride.
This ride takes about 1- 2 hour after which you will reach Tower number 10 ski point. If you choose to go further to Gurson top, that option can be taken up as well. Ride to Gurson top takes another 2 hours. This ride takes you through dense forests amidst the oak trees. Riding through the forest you can hear the birds chirping and the serene ambiance will surely make you feel at peace. After arrival at Gurson, witness panoramic view of Dhauliganga valley and Niti valley. Immerse in the beauty of this region which is quite refreshing, as you return back riding on the horse.

Please remember to carry the following:
- Comfortable Trekking/Hiking shoes (shoes with a thick sole are recommended)
- Water bottle
- Sun glasses
- Medicines, if requiring any specific medication
- Day pack/small bag which you will carry on your back every day and keep your essentials in it
- Keep a few poly bags or waterproof bags in your bag in which if required you can put your belongings in case of heavy rain
- Camera if you like (with fully charged batteries)
